Ad blockers

As per the User Agreement, Novelitist does not serve targeted ads from third-party providers. Here are some relevant excerpts:

We operate on the basic principle that advertising is nefarious, especially interest-based (targeted) advertising. We firmly reject all forms of targeted advertising that would require our users to be tracked by third parties. Therefore all cookies we use are needed by us and our business partners, to make the app itself work (e.g. cloud providers, logging, analytics). This is the same for any other data we collect from you, which we keep to the absolute minimum required for the app to work and be improved over time.

Cookies and similar technologies: Most Web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. If you prefer, you can usually choose to set your browser to remove cookies and to reject cookies. If you choose to remove cookies or reject cookies, this could affect certain features or services of our Website, and may prevent you from using the services. We do not knowingly endorse interest-based advertising on our Website, therefore we do not use cookies to this end.

Do you serve targeted advertising?

Novelitist Global SRL has a strict policy against externally-enabled target-based (interest-based) advertising that would require third-party cookies to track our users. We do not knowingly deliver this type of ads. Novelitist Global SRL may offer adverts and promotions from third-parties, tailored to the general characteristics of our userbase, but never as a result of tracking individual users by means of third-party cookies.

This means there is no need to enable your ad blocker (we recommend uBlock Origin, plus Ghostery for good measure — both tested with Chrome on Novelitist). 

We do however collect anonymous analytics (usage data) in order to debug problems and improve the app, which is something an ad block can get in the way of. Even that wouldn't be a problem.

Alas, we've noticed that ad blockers may occasionally get in the way of the app's normal operation, resulting in errors. If you insist on keeping your ad block active on Novelitist, and you see otherwise unexplained errors, please try disabling the ad blocker and see if that fixes the issues.
